Do you remember when Black Friday was just a single day of insane sales? Where you would bust down the door at stores at four or five in the morning to get the best sales? And then they added Cyber Monday for online retailers as an alternative to going out in the elements?
Well now somehow something that has a single day in the name has stretched all the way out to a week before. Black Friday week sales are now live because capitalism must continue churning forward. It does take off some of the pressure of having to make a purchasing decision within a few minutes, but it also just seems like a regular sale at this point.
But, regardless, I am here to help recommend things so that you don’t spend your money on garbage. As this week of sales progresses, I’m going to update this page with what I’m buying, or what I’ve bought with success in the past.

I think at that point it’s just a mid-November sale and not a Black Friday sale, but whatever. Black Friday Travel Recommendations
Away is having a 25% off everything sale. We own four pieces of Away luggage, which should be an endorsement in itself. If you want more about why I love the Away luggage, check out my Travel Essentials recommendations.
Dagne Dover is having a 30% off everything sale, so it’s the perfect time to pick up my favorite Dakota backpack (which has it’s own review!). My only regret with this purchase is getting a light color… so think carefully about stains!
This charger should probably make it onto my travel essentials post… my husband bought this for me and it is great for consolidating a ton of chargers into one outlet. Especially great for those hotel rooms with only one convenient plug location.
Black Friday Clothing Recommendations
MeUndies is having a 50% off sale on everything, 60% on underwear. I appreciate their soft fabric and neat patterns – usually they are ridiculously expensive, so 50-60% off brings it back to a reasonable price range. You can also buy matching underwear for your significant other, if that’s your thing.
Home Recommendations
Another Amazon holiday, another sale on the Dyson Laser Vacuum. It’s pretty neat, and it keeps getting cheaper than the last time I posted it.

- Besides the obviously cool laser head for hard floors, this is the only vacuum where the carpet attachment does not get my long hair trapped and tangled in the brushes
There’s also a 40% off sale on a Crock Pot. I kind of assume everyone has a slow cooker or Instant Pot these days, but if you don’t this is a pretty good price. It’s soup season here in Seattle, so my Crock Pot has been used at least once a week since the start of fall.
If you’re looking for gift ideas, last year I got an Aura picture frame for my Mom (and one for me too!). You can share photos instantaneously, which is great when you’re not close by. It’s also great for actually viewing all those fun trip photos, instead of just hanging out in your phone’s photo gallery.
The Owala Freesip in 24oz was my birthday gift to myself this year and I love it so much. I drink way more water when I have a straw, and this magical bottle both has a straw and is leakproof AND keeps water cold for a very long time. Not all colors are on sale, so make sure you choose correctly!

Black Friday Makeup Recommendations
The Urban Decay pencil eyeliner is one of my favorites. It comes in a ton of fun colors, is easy to apply, and lasts a long time. If you want to smudge it, you must work fast because once it sets, it’s not going anywhere!

Miscellaneous Black Friday Deals (Great for Gifts!)
Another great gift for parents / grandparents is a Storyworth membership. Essentially, for one year, the service will prompt your loved one with questions of your choosing. After one year of writing their answers, you can get their answers printed in a real book! I’ve bought this for both of my parents, and my husband for his, and it’s a great way to make sure all the stories and tales of your family aren’t lost to time.
This silly little cube is on a big sale again. Great to idly fidget with while watching TV.
What’s in My Black Friday Cart
43″ TV
Yeah, this one is oddly specific, but we need to replace a TV in an office, which would be ill-suited to a larger screen size. Unfortunately all of the cheaper TVs with fancy specs don’t come in this size anymore. So, we have to decide between the best TV or a cheaper FireTV or a cheaper Roku TV. We’ll see if there’s any price drops before the week is over!
Makeup & Skincare
These Biodance collagen masks are all over social media, especially for girlies using them on long haul flights. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet (because I have SO MANY sheet masks that I bought in Japan), but I’m thinking about it.
I’m trying to decide if I deserve a little treat or not… I bought one of these Danessa Myricks Colorfix Stix earlier this year and I fell in love with it. The glittery/shimmery glow of the foil eyeshadow is actually insane, and there’s almost no fallout. I kind of want to get another shade but I kind of don’t need it but also I kind of want it and it’s on sale… we’ll see.
